Introduction to Computing DSST

We are now studying for the Introduction to Computing DSST exam.

My son was originally studying for the Information Systems and Computer Application CLEP but after looking into it further and learning that the DSST exam would be a littler easier we decided to opt for it since his EPC (ending point college) will take either one, but won't take both due to they duplicate.
This is one of the exams that I wouldn't want to take without a lot of studying, mainly because I'm not a computer guru by any means. Sure I know what a mouse, keyboard and screen are, and I know where the on/off button is and how to surf the internet but when you start talking about computer lingo such as CPU, RAM, L1 & L2 Cache, WAN/LAN, Databases, Application & Systems Software, that's where I'm completely lost!

My son on the other hand knows a lot more than I do. He has actually built a computer with his dads help. But he still needs to learn all the termanology that he will encounter on the exam.

Here are the study materials that we will use for this exam.
Computers Are Your Future has plenty to read and mini tests.
Jan's Illustrated Computer Literacy 101 This one is great for learning the basics if you know nothing about computers.
Computing Concepts is another site full of reading and mini tests.
I've also read that InstantCert has flashcards that are great for this exam as well as other exams. My kids don't favor fill-in-the-blank flashcards but I think they will use it for this one. You have to have a subscription to InstantCert to view the flashcards.

I'm hoping that my son will take this exam in the next week or so.
I will up-date then.

Wish us luck!
